Fuel Cell Membranes study at MIT is using the Masscal G1 to measure mass change and reaction energy to characterize membrane materials.

Biodegradable Packaging Films are evaluated at multiple universities under USDA sponsorship using the Masscal G1 to measure reactions.

Electronic Coatings compositions are optimized based on data from the G1 by leading Electronics Firm.

Pharmaceutical Coatings have been evaluated using the high sensitivity of the Masscal G1 to measure moisture absorption/desorption as a function of temperature and relative humidity.

Don't base critical decisions for your valuable coatings on bulk property measurements, extrapolated data, or loose correlations of single measurements from multiple instruments.

Now you can directly and simultaneously measure the nano-scale mass changes, reaction heat and viscoelastic changes of your materials on the same sample under precisely controlled conditions.

A Man of Integrity, Wisdom, Faith and Love

Our world has been unalterably enriched by the strength of character and dedication of our close friend and associate, Dr. Allan L. Smith, who passed on to a better world on December 9, 2008. Allan was an inspirational leader in teaching, business and church community. He will be remembered for his unrelenting commitment to continuous learning, the conquering of challenges, and the application of this knowledge for the benefit of society. These will remain with us at Masscal as bulwarks of our mission.

Dr. Smith has been recognized world wide as the technical leader for the integration of nano-scale QCM measurements with microcalorimetry. Prior to founding Masscal, Dr. Smith was a Professor of Physical Chemistry at Yale and Drexel Universities with over 60 publications.

Masscal Opens New Analytical Services Laboratory

Masscal has teamed up with NanoSpective® to provide analytical laboratory services in Orlando, Florida. The laboratory will begin providing new services on January 2. The combined team includes five application scientists and engineers with diverse specializations within material characterization and thermal analysis. The new partnership will be able to provide customers of both companies with broader problem-solving capabilities that include advanced microscopy and spectroscopy capabilities as well as Masscal's unique nano-scale measurements of reaction energy, mass change and viscoelasticity.

Next Generation Products in Final Beta Testing

The Masscal G2-Series of products is undergoing final customer evaluation before commercialization in early 1Q 2009. The advances include internal gas-switching and humidity-generation for instantaneous environmental control.

Sample Chamber New Technology for Solving Thin Film and Surface Problems
Masscal Scientific Instruments introduces a line of laboratory instruments which can measure moisture sorption, catalysis, curing and many other reactions of thin films and surfaces. The powerful, patented technology provides critical new capabilities for simultaneously measuring mass changes, reaction energy and film viscoelastic property with nanogram sensitivity. Materials are analyzed under precisely programmed environments of temperature, exposure times, humidity, or other gas compositions.
